Trivia[]

  • The title "Familia Ante Omnia" is a Latin phrase which translates to "family before all".
  • Filming began on November 16, 2017.[1][2]
  • This episode marks Alan Van Sprang's final appearance on the series.

The following are elements adapted from The Mortal Instruments book series:

  • Lilith used a newly-Turned-vampire who was obsessed with Simon to get to him.
  • The way Valentine described what he experienced after death, was similar to Jace's in City of Glass, with the quotes directly and almost exactly like from the book (the following quote is spoken by Jace in the book, and the bold/highlighted parts are Valentine's lines):
"I was in the dark. There was nothing there but shadows, and I was a shadow, and I knew that I was dead, and that it was [all] over, all of it."
  • Elaine sent Simon away when she found out that he was a vampire.
