Jace is a Shadowhunter born in a world with no demons and is thus oblivious to the concept of being a Shadowhunter.
History[]
Jace worked as a barista, running the cafe "Java Jace" out of a truck, and dated Clary Morgenstern.
Unbeknownst to him and their friends, Clary was briefly replaced by her counterpart from another dimension. At a party for her father's company, Jace met Clary's father for the first time. He then asked Clary to dance, and during this time, the alternate Clary enjoyed her time with Jace that she began to lose herself and was reverting to that dimension's—and that Jace's—Clary.

Simon excused Clary, and before Jace could rejoin her, the warlock Magnus Bane arrived and snapped her out of her trance. Jace saw the pair enter the Institute's basement and thought they were sneaking off to hook up. Jace followed them into the basement, confronted Clary and broke up with her. Before he could leave, a Ravener demon from Clary's dimension appeared and attacked them. Jace was terrified and cowered in a corner before the Jace of the other dimension arrived and took over the body of his body.
Personality[]
Jace is as charming as his counterpart. Compared to his counterpart, however, he is cowardly, due to his lack of training and demon-hunting experience, and is less hardened because he did not experience the emotional abuse his counterpart did.
