Dead, dead, dead.

–Seelie Queen, The Fair Folk

The Seelie Queen is the ruler of the Seelie Court.

History[]

The Queen has been alive for a long time. At one point, she mentored Sia and Björk, two Seelie musicians who became famous among mundanes.[1]

In 2016, the Clave asked the Seelie Queen to send scouts to look for the Shadowhunter fugitive Valentine Morgenstern. When the scouts did not return, the Queen and the Seelies in general cut off official communications with the Clave. Though the real motive behind it was not confirmed, one of her knights, Meliorn, implied that the possibility that Valentine may win the war against Shadowhunters, as well as what they deem to be the unfair treatment of the Fair Folk under the Accords, may be the reason.[2] When she learned that her knight Meliorn accompanied Shadowhunters into one of her realms shortly after,[3] she punished him. After finding out that the vampire Simon Lewis was a Daylighter, she saw this as an opportunity to defeat the demon Lilith. She then used every resource she could to split up Simon and Clary and turn Simon against his friends and get him to join her side. In the end, Simon caved in and began spending a lot of time in the Seelie court. This included Simon refusing to help the Shadowhunters when they asked him for assistance, as the queen did not want Simon working with them; much to Clary and the others’ frustration. The queen would then give Simon the Mark of Cain, and he would use it to defeat Lilith. After her banishment back to Edom, Simon removed the mark and terminated his alliance with the queen. She would then side with Jonathan Morgenstern after he became too powerful for her to beat, and even developed feelings for him. After taking Jonathan’s virginity, she would be killed by him.[4]

Physical appearance[]

The queen, despite being ancient, manipulates her appearance through magic to look young. She has long scarlet hair and numerous long, sharp teeth. She sometimes bears the appearance of a twelve-year-old girl,[1] and sometimes that of a young woman. She also presents herself with a British accent.[5] Like most Seelies, she also has markings on the side of her face—specifically on the right side of hers—that resemble branches and leaves.
